It goes from bad to worse for Tyson Fury following his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

Tyson Fury given shock world ranking after losing world title to Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury has been given a shock WBC world ranking following his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk last month.

Fury surrendered the WBC world heavyweight title as he lost a split decision to Usyk in their undisputed showdown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ was outpointed by the Ukrainian on the judges’ scorecards as the previously-undefeated Brit lost the first bout of his professional career in the process.

Fury let off some steam in wake of his defeat to Usyk, but he enjoyed one too many drinks as he was escorted from a pub in Morecambe.

But he claims to be back in the gym ahead of running it back with the world heavyweight champion on December 21.

Ahead of their rematch, Fury has been handed a shock ranking by the WBC after losing the world title.

The governing body has the 35-year-old at No.2 in their heavyweight rankings – behind champion Usyk and Anthony Joshua, who has never held the WBC world heavyweight title.

Agit Kabayel, who has stopped top contenders Arslanbek Makhmudov and Frank Sanchez in his last two outings, is ranked third ahead of Zhilei Zhang, who knocked out Deontay Wilder in his last fight.

Efe Ajagba, Jared Anderson and Martin Bakole are ranked fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.

The aforementioned Sanchez, Joe Joyce and Bakhodir Jalolov make up the top ten.

Fury, meanwhile, has the chance to regain the WBC title when he meets Usyk for a second time at the end of the year.

And he’s confident of reclaiming his ‘throne’ as he issued a defiant message on social media.

On Instagram, he wrote: “Listen up! I’ve conquered everything in boxing – titles, records, the lot. But I’ve never had to come back from a loss.

“On December 21st in Riyadh, in the heart of the kingdom, the king will reclaim his throne and become undisputed. @usykaa, I’m coming for you! Get ready for the Gypsy King!

“The path to redemption is all mine. I know what I have to do, I saw my shortcomings and best believe I am inevitable.”
