Taylor Swift, pop superstar and girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, has officially kicked off the final leg of her “Eras Tour” in Canada on Thursday night. Interestingly, during the show, the music icon shared why she chose the country to host the closing of her historic tour.

The 34-year-old singer closed the U.S. run of the “Eras Tour” in Indianapolis, Indiana, during which she also shared the reason why she picked the city to be her final stop. According to Swift, she wanted “a place where the fans are so incredible, so dedicated, so generous, so passionate, so fun.”

Speaking to the crowd at Rogers Centre, home of MLB team Toronto Blue Jays, Swift shared the same sentiment, noting how the fanbase played a factor in her decision.

“If we are going to bring The Eras Tour to a close, which we are… in nine shows!” Swift started. “I was thinking, you know, I really wanted to spend those last shows with the most generous, encouraging, welcoming, passionate, excitable fans.”

As Swifties would know, Taylor Swift has nine shows (including Thursday’s performance) in Canada to cap off her incredible “Eras Tour.” After six nights in Toronto, she will head next to Vancouver for a three-night performance.

By the end of the “Eras Tour,” she will have performed a total of 152 shows across 54 cities in the world.

Taylor Swift performs the Eras Tour at Paycor Stadium on June 30, 2024.

For what it’s worth, the city of Toronto and its fans are making sure Swift feels the love as she spends the final days of her show with them.

Rogers Centre prepared a massive friendship bracelet to welcome her, while the Blue Jays themselves channeled their inner Swiftie with a message before her show started.

“In our Tayronto Era,” the team wrote on X.

Sure enough, Swift’s “Eras Tour” in Toronto is off to a memorable start.
