A lot of it has stemmed from LeBron James co-hosting a podcast with Lakers’ new HC JJ Redick.

“What does that have to do with White folks?” Stephen A. Smith doubles down on Black head coaches being upset with LeBron James

LeBron James and Stephen A Smith

Stephen A. Smith has been garnering a lot of attention recently. This is due to the comments he made regarding the Los Angeles Lakers’ new head coach JJ Redick, and LeBron James. Smith is known for his wild and unusual takes on air in the NBA community and his take on Redick and James was no different.

Notably, Smith refused to retract the reports he made earlier this month claiming that black NBA coaches expressed their displeasure to him about LeBron James co-hosting a podcast with JJ Redick. In addition, Smith claimed on the First Take Show, that the words that he said regarding James, Redick, and Lakers former coach Darvin Ham have nothing to do with “white folks.”

Black coaches called a Black commentator to complain about a Black superstar doing a podcast while his Black head coach was on the hot seat before he ultimately lost the damn job. What does that have to do with white folks? Some things are none of your damn business.

On the contrary, James and Redick share a strong bond on and off the court and have a podcast together which apparently does not seem to sit well with some in the NBA. Also, with Redick appointed as the new head coach at the Lakers, it will be intriguing to watch how he performs in his debut season with the decorated franchise.

Stephen A. Smith kept it real after JJ Redick was appointed Lakers head coach

The Los Angeles Lakers appointed JJ Redick, as the new head coach for the 2024-25 NBA season. Notably, Stephen A. Smith, Redick’s former colleague kept it real this time around, as he wished “nothing but best” for him on his new coaching journey on social media with one of the most decorated franchises in the NBA.

Congrats to my man @jj_redick. Anyone who knows anything about you knows that you have that coaching itch. Wishing you nothing but the best.

Smith talking kind of someone was unusual but highlighted his soft side towards Redick.

In addition, Smith also asserted in one of his First Take shows that Redick has a great basketball coaching mind. All eyes will be on Redick to see how he succeeds with the Lakers in the 2024–25 NBA season, as he has been given one of the hardest tasks in the league.
