On the special occasion of Father’s Day, Chicago Bulls’ DeMar DeRozan shared a hilarious incident involving his daughter whose excessive support created problems on-court.
DeRozan narrated a story of his daughter, Diar, attending his game against the Toronto Raptors. When the game reached an intense stage where the opponent forward OG Anunoby was preparing himself for free throws, he was obstructed by the little one’s scream.
Now the Englishman had missed some golden opportunities before in the game, and the last thing he wanted was to get distracted this time. So, Anunoby playfully told DeRozan, “Tell your daughter to leave me alone.”
“The rest of the game… I heard her screaming every single time.”

Diar understood very well that her odd screams were helping her father, so she contributed from her end. Concluding his heartwarming story, the swingman said, “The rest of the game, the whole second half, I heard her screaming every single time. That was definitely a cool moment I got to share with her.”
There is a popular belief among the NBA community that the Miami Heat qualified for the NBA Finals last year because of that extra bit from Diar.
Apart from the bittersweet story, DeRozan, who will soon enter free agency, also shared a bit about his plans in the league on a different platform.
What’s Next for DeMar DeRozan?
As much as DeMar DeRozan would like to continue his journey with the Chicago Bulls, he clarified that he would not deny his hometown team, the LA Lakers, if they asked him to be a part of the historic franchise.
When DeRozan was asked on FanDuel’s “Run It Back”, whether he would like to join the Purple and Gold, who are in search of a player possessing his skillset, the 34-year-old replied, “You can’t never say no about playing home…Time will tell, we’ll see where the cards fall.”

Expressing his desire to stay with the Bulls, DeRozan said, “The city is great, I love the city, the organization been great—it’s definitely a place I would love to return to, and take care of unfinished business.”
Despite Chicago showing interest in keeping him by extending his contract for two more years worth nearly $80 million, DeRozan has not agreed to it yet. He is allegedly expecting a three-year deal. With the summer trade deadline swiftly approaching, seeing where the veteran lands will be interesting.
