Hollywood star Will Smith says he was issued a stern warning from wife Jada Pinkett Smith before he worked with Australian actress Margot Robbie on 2015 movie Focus

Will Smith was given some words of warning by wife Jada Pinkett Smith before he appeared alongside the Australian beauty Margot Robbie in 2015 film Focus.

The Hollywood actor, who turned 55 on September 25, played season conman Nicky Sprugeon in the movie, who teaches his young apprentice Jess Barrett, played by Margot, the tricks of their sordid trade and things got steamy between the characters on the big screen.

While promoting Focus eight years ago, Will said that Jada shared some advice with him before he started working alongside Barbie star Margot, who is 22 years his junior.

He recalled at the time: “When Margot got hired for the gig, Jada saw that Margot was young and hot and in shape. She said, ‘Boy don’t embarrass me. Get in shape now’. She was like, ‘Do not let that girl smash you onscreen’.” Margot also gave insight into their passionate scenes.

She told E! News: “He’s got this really lovely breath spray, it tastes like Christmas. It’s like he’s just eaten a candy cane.” However, The Wolf Of Wall Street actress insisted she would never date other thespians because “they are trouble” during the 2015 press junket.

Margot and Will also worked together in David Ayers’s Suicide Squad a year later. The Hitch actor’s relationship with wife Jada has been in the spotlight since they tied the knot back in 1997.

They are parents to two children, son Jaden and daughter Willow, and Will also shared son Trey with his ex-wife Sheree Zamino. Things haven’t always been easy and Jada has previously admitted she “never wanted” to get married.

The couple have since admitted to being in an open relationship. Will has described his wife as his “life partner”, and while they may be in an open relationship, he said they have always been honest with one another. He previously said: “We refer to ourselves as life partners, where you get into that space where you realise you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life.

One of the biggest bombshells about their relationship came in 2021 when Jada admitted she had been in an “entanglement” with August Alsina. The actress met August at the Wireless Festival in London in 2015, and five years later the singer told The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee he “gave years of his life” to a romantic relationship with Jada with Will’s blessing.

Jada representives initially responded that these claims were “absolutely not true,” but she took part in a Red Table Talk to explain she had a relationship with August when she was separated from Will, so he never gave his blessing.
