Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese expressed support for fellow rookie Cameron Brink of the LA Sparks after Brink sustained a knee injury during their game against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday.

Brink was carried off the court to the locker room after injuring her knee just minutes into the Sparks-Sun game.

Angel Reese took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her concern and wish Brink a speedy recovery, posting:

“Prayers for my sweet girl! @cameronbrink22 🙏🏽”

The injury occurred as the Sun were leading 9-5 with 6:23 remaining in the first quarter. Cameron Brink drove to the basket against Sun forward Brionna Jones, stepped awkwardly and collapsed to the floor in pain.

She immediately grabbed her left knee and struggled to bear weight on it, prompting the team staff to carry her to the locker room.

The Sparks later confirmed Brink’s knee injury, ruling her out for the rest of the game, which the Sun won 79-70.

“In-game injury update: Cameron Brink left the game in the 1st quarter, and will not return (knee),” the LA Sparks announced.

Angel Reese and Cameron Brink have faced each other once this WNBA season, with the Chicago Sky winning 83-73. Reese scored six points and grabbed six rebounds, while Brink had seven points and six rebounds in that matchup.

They are regarded as two of the top rookies in the WNBA, along with the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark, for their ability to draw fans to the games.

LA Sparks fall to 4-11 as Cameron Brink injures knee

With Cameron Brink exiting the game early, the LA Sparks missed her averages of 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.4 blocks and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 39.8% from the field and 32.3% from 3-point range.

Aari McDonald led the Sparks with 14 points, while Rickea Jackson and Li Yueru contributed 10 and 11 points respectively.

The Sun’s starting lineup delivered productive play, with each player scoring in double digits.

DeWanna Bonner recorded 16 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks, while Tyasha Harris added 14 points.

Brionna Jones and DiJonai Carrington scored 13 and 12 points respectively, while Alyssa Thomas contributed 11 points, seven assists, and seven rebounds.

With Brink sidelined for most of the game, the Sun dominated inside, scoring 50 points in the paint, leading by as much as 19 points and forcing 24 turnovers.

With the win, the Connecticut Sun improved their league-best record to 13-1.
