Will Smith reduced to TEARS on Hot Ones: Bad Boys 4 star struggles to see while eating spicy wings and reveals the ‘hardest he’s been hit’ on a movie set – two years after that Oscars slap

Will Smith is the latest celebrity putting his spice tolerance to the test on Hot Ones.

The actor, 55, was reduced to tears and struggled to keep his eyes open as he sampled the most fiery of hot sauces on the hit series.

Smith admitted he wasn’t ready for his appearance: ‘I am the guest that is least prepared for this show.’

‘It’s making my eyes water in a unique way,’ he confessed after trying one flavor. ‘That one had a reaction with my tear ducts.’

Tears flowed from Smith’s eyes after he completed all the sauces, and he had a hard time even sharing the release date for his next film, Bad Boys: Ride Or Die. ‘Someone’s going to have to drive me home,’ he said.

As the spice factor gradually increased, Smith discussed his film career – including some of the physical challenges he endured.

Smith revealed that the ‘hardest’ hit he ever took on the set of a movie was for the 2001 film Ali, which saw him play boxing legend Muhammad Ali.

‘Michael Bentt in Ali, Michael Bentt played Sonny Liston, and I was leaning back,’ he said.

‘My trainer was trying to get me to get the angle of my spine forward and in this second I just was like you know what, commit.

‘And I committed and leaned forward and almost as an instinctual reaction, Michael Bentt threw a right hand and I saw it coming at the last second and I put my head down and he caught me with a right hand right on top of my head. But it didn’t knock my head down. It compressed my head onto my spine.

‘And I felt an electrical shock go down the back of both arms to my elbows. And all I could think was “Where the f**k are my keys?”… You know when you’re a little boy, you ever do the nine volt battery?… I had that, like an electrical taste in my mouth. That was like the hardest I’ve ever been hit on a movie set. That was a rough one.’

The star also opened up about his Bad Boys franchise and the dog he nearly adopted from his 2007 film, I Am Legend.

Discussing why he believes the Bad Boys franchise has been as successful as it has been, he said: ‘It’s like life is so hard. Everybody wants somebody that’s like, “It’s whatever man. What do you need? I’m there.” Ya know? And I think that is the core of Bad Boys that is really resonant on a universal level.’

He also discussed attempting to adopt the dog Abbey he worked with on I Am Legend.

‘It was like Abbey spoke English,’ he replied. ‘You could say, “Ay, Abbey, do you see where I left my phone?” She’d be like,’ Will said, before mimicking the dog responding to him.

Smith is about to be back on the big screen with the release of his latest Bad Boys film, Bad Boys: Ride or Die.

It’ll arrive in theaters two years after Smith landed at the center of controversy in 2022 after he slapped Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars.

The film will also serve as Smith’s comeback and will work as an experiment to see his ability to draw audiences following the controversy.

‘Bad Boys is not a risk,’ a film industry insider recently told People. ‘It’s a good piece to see him soar. A talent as ambitious and financially successful as Will does not go away with one mistake.’

The source added: ‘He needs to keep box-office success alive.’

A Hollywood insider also told People that the film could put the actor ‘back on top’ if it ‘does well’ at the box office.

The source said the actor ‘should be back on top and looking good for other films he is involved with and working on’ should Bad Boys 4 succeed.

Smith’s film Bad Boys: Ride or Die will be released on June 7.

As the actor promotes the film, he got spiritual as he discussed finding ‘lasting happiness’ without relying on riches.

‘The material world is utterly incapable of providing lasting happiness,’ he said on the Full Send podcast.

‘It’s just you have to get to the ends of the things and still be miserable to realize that.

‘People talk about rock bottom. I coined a phrase that there’s a corresponding place, I call it “cliff top”, where you wear out everything in the material world.

‘It is absolute abyss when you realize that there is nothing left in this world to reach for you to make you happy.

‘And then you realize that the final frontier is getting your inner house in order. With no women, no drugs, with no money, with nothing, can you cultivate a joyful spirit just with you and you?’
