Angelina Jolie has recently been collaborating with her daughter Vivienne, 15, as a co-producer on the Broadway musical ‘The Outsiders’

Angelina Jolie is keeping her birthday low-key.

As Jolie turns 49 on Tuesday, June 4, a source close to the actress tells PEOPLE that Jolie is spending the day with her children: Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, Pax, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15.

“Angelina will celebrate her birthday with a quiet day at home with her kids. Zahara is home from college, and she looks forward to everyone spending the day together,” the source says.

Most recently, Jolie produced the Broadway musical adaptation of The Outsiders along with her daughter Vivienne, who is also working on the production as her mother’s assistant. Jolie was nominated for co-producing the musical adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s 1967 book The Outsiders, which is up for 12 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Direction of a Musical.

As PEOPLE reported in August 2023, Vivienne inspired her mother to take on a lead producer role with The Outsiders after they attended the musical’s world premiere in California.

“She’ll correct me,” Jolie told PEOPLE of Vivienne’s aptitude as a theater producer at the show’s premiere in April. “She’ll say, ‘Didn’t you read the memo? We have to do this. We have to go through this.’ “

“She’s been a really tough assistant,” she added at the time. “She takes it very, very seriously.

Jolie and Vivienne additionally stepped out together in Los Angeles on May 30, at the opening night of Reefer Madness: The Musical. The pair were pictured posing with Jolie’s friend Kristen Bell, a producer of the new show, on the red carpet.

Jolie last appeared on the big screen in Marvel’s 2021 superhero movie Eternals and Those Who Wished Me Dead, released the same year. She is next expected to release a movie with the upcoming Maria Callas biopic Maria, directed by Pablo Larraín. The drama filmed in 2023 and is currently in post-production, though it does not yet have a release date, according to IMDb.

“I take very seriously the responsibility to Maria’s life and legacy. I will give all I can to meet the challenge,” Jolie said of the role in a previous statement.
