Rappers Kendrick Lamar and Drake have been at each other’s throats for a hot while now, with each releasing diss tracks on the other. The fight has been going on for years, with neither making an effort to stop it.

The issues between them have been escalating, and they have dragged many prominent people into the feud by mentioning them in their diss tracks, and also in the public statements they have made against each other. Serena Williams was one such person, being unknowingly dragged into the fight when Drake made a comment about her husband in a song from his 2022 album. Lamar was vocal in criticizing Drake for this, and other tennis players have backed him on these grounds.

As the matter now involves a tennis legend, players have been asked about their stands and takes on the feud. Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff are two players who took Lamar’s side and Gauff justified her decision by saying Drake dissed Williams, which lost him her support. Gauff did mention that she likes Drake’s music but thinks Lamar wins in a music-only duel too, irrespective of the matter about Williams.

I like Kendrick's songs more. And yeah I think pretty much everyone I know is leaning towards him. But I do like Drake as an artist as well. But as far as the rap battle is going on, the rap beef, I think definitely Kendrick is winning. Also, Drake dissed Serena so I have to go with Kendrick and Kendrick defended her, so yeah I have to go with him.

In late 2022, Drake released an album titled ‘Her Loss’ in collaboration with 21 Savage. A song in this album, ‘Middle of the Ocean’, contains a block of lyrics targeted at Serena Williams where Drake seemingly insults her husband, calling him a ‘gro*pie’.

This has now resurfaced with Kendrick Lamar calling Drake out on it and backing Serena Williams in the matter amidst their feud.

When the album hit the shelves, Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian also responded to it in a witty way, saying he’s the best gro*pie to his wife and daughter. He also weighed in on the feud between the two rappers, asking Lamar to stop as Drake was already dead, implying that Lamar had already won the battle.
