The Olympics Are Over, But I’m Still Obsessed With Gold Medalist Tara Davis-Woodhall and Her Husband Hunter’s Adorable YouTube Channel

Feeling oddly bereft now that the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics are over? Searching for scraps of wholesome Olympic-adjacent content on Instagram?

Have you also found yourself obsessively binging the bejesus out of Olympic long jump gold medalist Tara Davis-Woodhall and her doting husband Hunter’s YouTube channel, Tara and Hunter?!?

Like many other Olympics watchers, I found myself absolutely enchanted by the viral photos of Tara Davis-Woodhall leaping into hubby Hunter’s arms immediately after winning her first Gold Medal.

I watched the footage of Hunter’s real time reaction to Tara’s win on a loop. Naturally, I had to know more about their love story. Thankfully, Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall have been dutifully chronically every step of their fairy tale romance since they were teenagers.

On “Tara and Hunter,” you can watch the young couple gush about their meet cute at an Idaho track meet, tag along with them to their Paris Olympics Airbnb, and even see them get verklempt watching their wedding video for the first time.

Now, there’s nothing inherently groundbreaking about an attractive couple documenting their lives for clicks, nor is the Olympic vlog a new thing, but there’s something so specifically infectious about “Tara and Hunter.”

It all circles back to the love story. You might think that, of course, their post-win embrace in the Stade de France was the culmination of years of sweat, tears, and hard work. “Tara and Hunter” prove, though, that these two are precisely that besotted with each other every second of every damn day.

Thanks to “Tara and Hunter,” I now know that the two were basically head over heels for each other since that fateful day they first met at a track meet as teenagers.

I also know that they were forced by circumstance to be long-distance for several years. Hunter documented a wildly romantic surprise for Tara in those days: traveling 1,000 miles across the country to simply give Tara sunflowers.

Contemporary vlogs detail the rigorous training both world-class athletes do in order to compete. More importantly, to me, they also give us a behind-the-scenes peek at life for a 2024 Olympian (and soon, a 2024 Paralympian). We watch the couple explore Paris, hype each other up, deal with promotional duties, and eventually toast Tara’s ascension to Olympic Champion.

Through it all, Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall are just so gosh darn wholesome. Like, I am a single, cynical New Yorker. I have all but given up on the idea of finding a true love out there, but “Tara and Hunter” might actually convince me it’s possible? These two are just that intensely endearing and it just makes me all the more thrilled that our girl took home gold for the USA.

As Tara and Hunter themselves note on their channel, their hunt for gold isn’t over yet. In a few weeks, the couple will return to Paris so Hunter can compete in the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympics. I know I will be keeping tabs on “Tara and Hunter” and cheering him on. Will you?
