Taylor Swift and Blake Lively have been friends since 2015

Taylor Swift and Blake Lively’s friendship just keeps getting sweeter.

The singer and actress first connected in 2015 after Lively shared a photo from a L’Oréal campaign that cheekily referenced Swift’s star-studded “Bad Blood” music video in the caption.

While fans initially took the caption as shade, Lively quickly cleared things up, revealing that she was a total Swiftie. The two eventually met up in Australia for a fun-filled day out, and the rest is pretty much history.

Since then, the two have grown super close, sharing photos of their bond on social media, supporting each other at big events, and attending each other’s parties.

Swift has even featured Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ kids in her music. The couple’s daughter James has a voice cameo in Swift’s Reputation track “Gorgeous,” while James, Inez and Betty are all named-dropped in Folklore. In 2023, Lively brought James and Inez along to the Eras Tour as they proudly supported their “aunt” Taylor.

July 2016: Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds attend Taylor Swift’s Fourth of July party

Lively and Reynolds were in attendance for Swift’s annual Fourth of July bash in 2016. In addition to appearing in a group photo with Swift in front of fireworks, Lively and Reynolds were also pictured in a cute couple photo with Swift and then-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston.

A year after their trip in Australia, Lively wished Swift a happy (belated) birthday on Instagram by sharing a selfie of them with the caption, “People Who I Not Only Really Love, But Also Really LIKE, That Were Born Yesterday: Part 1 of 2.🎈 @taylorswift you know how I feel. 💜”

November 2017: Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s daughter is featured on Taylor Swift’s song “Gorgeous”

When Swift released Reputation in November 2017, fans were excited to learn that the voice featured at the beginning of her song “Gorgeous” is actually Lively and Reynold’s daughter James.

During Swift’s Reputation tour in Massachusetts in 2018, Lively and Reynolds were spotted in the crowd excitedly filming Swift’s performance of the song. Lively later admitted on Good Morning America that what you’re seeing in the clip is the “true, unfiltered version of our terrible stage-parent pride.”

Swift rang in 2019 with a fun costume party at which everyone dressed up as their childhood heroes. In an Instagram gallery, Swift, dressed up as Ariel from The Little Mermaid, could be seen posing with Lively, dressed up as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, in a group photo.

December 2019: Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds attend Taylor Swift’s 30th birthday

Following Swift’s appearance at the 2019 Jingle Ball in NYC, Lively and Reynolds joined other guests at the singer’s 30th birthday party. Lively and Reynolds were spotted sharing a kiss in a group photo that Swift shared on Instagram.

July 2020: Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s kids are name-dropped in Taylor Swift’s Folklore album

In her Folklore album, Swift once again featured Lively and Reynolds’s kids — only this time, she just used their names. The names of the couple’s daughters, James, Inez, and Betty, were all featured in the song “Betty.” When Swift won album of the year at the Grammys in March 2021, she gave Lively and Reynolds a shoutout in her speech.

December 2020: Blake Lively wishes Taylor Swift a happy birthday

On Dec. 13, 2020, Blake wished Taylor a happy birthday (and thanked her for the release of Evermore) on Instagram. “…There was happiness because of you♥️ Happy happy birthday,” Lively wrote alongside a photo of them. “Thank you for #Evermore Absolutely nothing better than getting presents on other people’s birthdays. 🎈 love you”

October 2021: Taylor Swift goes trick-or-treating with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds

Sporting a squirrel costume, Swift was spotted tagging along with Lively and Reynolds as they went trick-or-treating with their kids in NYC.

November 2021: Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds support Taylor Swift at Saturday Night Live

When Swift appeared as the musical guest for SNL on Nov. 13, Lively and Reynolds showed their support by attending the taping. They could also be seen attending the afterparty with Swift in N.Y.C., and eagle-eyed fans noted that Lively was sporting the same heart-shaped red ring she wore earlier in the week at an event for her Betty Buzz mixers.

And it’s clear that being friends with Swift makes you as addicted to Easter eggs as she is, because that ring makes a prominent appearance in their latest collaboration…

November 2021: Blake Lively directs Taylor Swift’s “I Bet You Think About Me” music video

Following her SNL performance, Swift announced that Lively would be directing her music video for “I Bet You Think About Me” from Red (Taylor’s Version). The video dropped on Nov. 15 and marked Lively’s directorial debut. Swift even shared a sweet TikTok of Lively on set to celebrate the milestone.

February 10, 2022: Taylor Swift celebrates ACM Awards nomination with Blake Lively

After the ACM Awards announced Swift and director Lively were nominated for their “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version)” music video, the singer shared her excitement on her Instagram Story. “AHHHHHHH CONGRATS @blakelively, MILES AND @keleighteller!!!! BIG GROUP HUG!” Swift wrote, adding: “I loved making this video and it’s so cool to see the @acmawards nominate it for video of the year.”

The music video was written by both Swift and Lively, with the actress also serving as a producer with Swift’s brother Austin.

June 11, 2022: Blake Lively attends Taylor Swift’s All Too Well: The Short Film screening

Lively attended the screening of Swift’s All Too Well: The Short Film at the Beacon Theater in New York City as part of the 2022 Tribeca Festival. Reynolds joined his wife as they supported their friend.

At the event, Lively wore a white, midi-length dress with a tan handbag and gold-studded, nude T-strap pumps. Interestingly, this was the same footwear Swift wore in 2019 on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Ahead of the 56th Annual CMA Awards, the Country Music Association announced their nominees, including Lively, who was nominated in the music video of the year category for directing Swift’s “I Bet You Think About Me” (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault). November 7, 2022: Ryan Reynolds talks about his family’s affinity for Taylor Swift

Reynolds talked about Swift while promoting his film Spirited in N.Y.C. Though he denied the fan theory that the singer would be appearing in Deadpool 3, Reynolds said that she would “of course” be welcome in it. “Are you kidding me? I would do anything for that woman. She’s a genius,” Reynolds told Entertainment Tonight.

The actor added that his entire family is “obsessed” with Swift and her album Midnights. “Oh my God, yes. All of us, whole house, I’m not kidding. I love it so much,” he said. “I do, Blake does, my daughters. We love it. Obsessed.”

Swift won “Favorite Pop Album” at the AMAs. While accepting the award, she gave Lively a shout-out.

Following news of her split from longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn, Swift had a girls’ night out in N.Y.C. as she stepped out alongside several of her celebrity friends, including the Haim sisters, Gigi Hadid and Lively.

Swift’s brother Austin, Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds and the Haim sisters — Este, Alana and Danielle — seemingly all unfollowed Alwyn after he and Swift called it quits, per DeuxMoi and eagle-eyed fans.

May 12, 2023: Blake Lively attends Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour with her daughters

Lively supported Swift at her Eras Tour in Philadelphia, bringing along her daughters James and Inez for the special occasion. During the show, Swift made mention of Lively’s kids as she talked about naming characters after them in Folklore. She also appeared to say “hi” to them as she performed “All Too Well” on stage and was seen holding hands with James as she exited the stadium at the end of the night.

The two friends were spotted grabbing dinner at Zero Bond in N.Y.C. Lively donned a tweed miniskirt and a denim shirt, while Swift wore a black cardigan and a pleated grey skirt.

September 30, 2023: Blake Lively grabs dinner with Taylor Swift and her friends ahead of Kansas City Chiefs game

The night before the New York Jets took on the Kansas City Chiefs, Swift and Lively were seen stepping out with Sophie Turner and Brittany Mahomes for a girls’ night.

The Grammy winner was photographed arriving with Turner, Lively and her older sister Robyn to the Italian restaurant Emilio’s Ballato on Saturday — the night before the New York Jets take on the Kansas City Chiefs.

The group sat in a back room of the restaurant for over four hours, with Brittany, 28, staying till 1 a.m., while Swift left shortly after around 1:30 a.m.

October 1, 2023: Taylor Swift and Blake Lively attend Kansas City Chiefs game together

As Swift cheered on Travis Kelce during the Kansas City Chiefs game on Oct. 1, she had a handful of celebrity friends by her side, including Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds. The trio was seen arriving at MetLife Stadium together before watching the game from a box.

The close friends were shown laughing together in the stands at the Chiefs-Jets game in a video shared by the NFL’s official X account — with Swift appearing to jokingly mimic a player.

February 11, 2024: Taylor Swift brings Blake Lively to 2024 Super Bowl

Swift had her closest friends with her as she cheered on Kelce at the 2024 Super Bowl, including Lively. The Gossip Girl alum was seen rocking tight curls and a red tracksuit as she arrived at the stadium with Swift, who was seen wearing an all-black outfit and a red jacket draped over her shoulders.

July 26, 2024: Blake Lively thanks Taylor Swift for supporting Ryan Reynolds’ movie Deadpool & Wolverine.

In honor of Deadpool & Wolverine hitting theaters in July 2024, Swift shared a post on her Instagram Stories congratulating Reynolds on the movie while also poking fun at his friendly rivalry with costar Hugh Jackman.

“Over the past few years I have watched one of my best friends on this planet pour every bit of his heart, soul, sweat, time, energy, jokes, pain, joy, rebellion, darkness, and magic into this film,” she wrote “He’s created the best work of his life, and this film feels like an actual joy portal, a wild escape from reality, and an abs sandwich. I don’t know how he did it.”

“But that’s just Hugh for you!” she joked.

Lively shared the post on her own Instagram Stories, writing, “Thank you @taylorswift for honoring my guy(s). I couldn’t have said it better myself. Which is unsurprising given that I have 14 less grammys and not a single sold out stadium world tour,”

August 24, 2024: Taylor Swift and Blake Lively hang out in Rhode Island

After Swift wrapped up the European leg of her Eras tour in August 2024, photos obtained by TMZ showed that she and Lively were spending time together in Rhode Island, along with Reynolds and Kelce.

The couples were also joined by some of their famous friends, including Bradley Cooper and his daughter, Lea, Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes, his wife Brittany Mahomes, and their daughter Sterling, along with Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, and his wife Kylie Kelce.
