Olympian Tara Davis-Woodhall Reacts to Husband Hunter Woodhall’s Gold Medal Win at Paris Paralympic Games

Olympian Tara Davis-Woodhall shared an adorable message to celebrate her husband Hunter Woodhall’s gold medal win in the men’s 400-meter race at the 2024 Paris Paralympics on Sept. 6.

The Woodhalls’ love deserves a medal.

After Hunter Woodhall took home the gold in the men’s 400-meter T62 race at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, his wife, Tara Davis-Woodhall, made an adorable edit to a message she wrote him prior to his win.

Alongside a photo of the couple shared to Instagram Sept. 6, Tara offered some words of encouragement for her husband of two years ahead of his big moment, writing, “One final lap. this is your race! do it for you.”

And following his first-place finish, the 25-year-old revised the post, adding at the top of her caption, “EDIT!!! HE WON GOLD!!”

And that’s not the only way Tara—who took home her own gold medal during the women’s long jump competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics back in August—celebrated Hunter’s achievement.

In a video shared to their joint Instagram account Sept. 6, the track stars each wore their medals around their necks while they shared an embrace and jumped up and down. And to top off their celebrations, Tara tapped her gold to Hunter’s after shouting, “Bringing it home!”

Of course, that level of support goes both ways. After all, Hunter’s emotional reaction to Tara’s medal-winning competition melted fans’ hearts back in August.

“Nobody in the world deserves this more than that girl,” Hunter, also 25, said of his wife’s win in a video shared to his Instagram Aug. 11. “She’s worked harder than anybody, she’s been more dedicated than anybody, and this has been her whole life dream.”

The Paralympian broke down in tears as he went on to highlight Tara’s ability to stay true to herself throughout her Olympics journey, saying, “I just want you to know that the person you think you’re supporting is exactly who you’re supporting.”

Noting that he’s “just really thankful” to be a part of her story, Hunter added, “‘Cause what you see is what you get.”

Hunter Woodhall was born without fibulae, a condition called fibular hemimelia, and was 11 months old when he underwent a double amputation—but the physical challenge did not slow him down.

The Georgia native met Tara Davis-Woodhall at a high school track meet in Idaho 2017. And, as he recalled in a YouTube video, “I was like, ‘Damn, that girl’s fine. I’m gonna marry that girl.'”

They weren’t together from that moment on, Tara being from California, but chemistry and following each other’s rising careers on social media did the trick. The pair got engaged after the pandemic-delayed Tokyo Games in 2021 and wed in October 2022 at a Texas vineyard. But while they both competed in Tokyo, they couldn’t cheer each other on in person due to COVID-19 restrictions. So you can imagine how excited they are for Paris.

“This is what we’ve been working on. And this is what we’ve been waiting for,” Tara told E! News in May. “And it’s going to be a special moment for sure.”
