Everyone loves a surprise — and nobody does surprises like Paris Hilton. After all, before her son Phoenix was born in Jan. 2023, she kept the news of her impending motherhood completely under wraps.

As any parent can imagine, it’s hard not to share such monumental, life-changing news, especially when you’re keeping it from even the ones you love the most. But when you’ve lived your life in the spotlight, and privacy is a precious commodity, wanting a special moment for yourself is completely understandable.

“I’ve given my whole life to everyone for so long,” Hilton emotionally confessed in the trailer for the second season of her reality show, Paris in Love, available to stream on Peacock starting Nov. 30. “It’s just been really important to me to keep this a secret. … It’s just the first time that something is just mine.”

But baby Phoenix wasn’t the only surprise Hilton and her husband, Carter Reum, had up their sleeves — or the only baby, for that matter. On Thanksgiving, Hilton casually dropped the bombshell that the couple were now parents of two thanks to the birth of a baby girl, also via surrogate: their daughter London.

“Are you a big brother today? Are you the big brother now?” Hilton asked Phoenix in a TikTok video posted that day, to which he replied with the sweetest coos. “Are you gonna watch after your sister?”

Phoenix’s ability to protect his little sister may not come into play for a few years yet, but it was a very important factor in Hilton’s desire to welcome a son before a daughter. “I want them to be best friends and for Phoenix to watch out for his little sister,” she tells SheKnows’ Entertainment Editor Alice Kelly. “That’s why I wanted to have a boy first, because I feel like so many bad things wouldn’t have happened to me when I was a teenager if I had a big brother to watch out for me.”

For now, Phoenix and London’s mom and dad will be doing the watching — but as she enters her “mom era,” Hilton tells SheKnows that this new phase of her life is nothing short of amazing. “I am loving being in my mom era. It’s my favorite era yet,” she gushes. “I just feel like my life feels so complete.”

Of course, it helps that her babies seem to have the temperament every parent dreams of. “They’re just so calm and so sweet and they don’t cry and they’re always just happy,” Hilton says, admitting that she knows exactly how lucky she is. But her favorite part about motherhood, she says, is the overwhelming love it brings.

“These babies have just brought so much love into my life,” she raves. “My heart feels so full, like it could burst, and every day is like a new adventure. Just seeing — especially with Phoenix — all these new steps … smiling and laughing and dancing. He’s the best. They both are.”

As for the upcoming holiday season, Hilton can’t wait to share it with her new family of four — and to start traditions of their own. “Carter’s family tradition is to all get matching onesies on Christmas morning and open gifts together. So I’ve been ordering tons of matching ‘Mommy and me’ outfits and then finding the ones for the daddy and son, so it can be all of us together and matching outfits,” she says. Having hosted her family Thanksgiving this year, for the first time as a mother, Hilton tells SheKnows that it brought back sweet memories of her own childhood, affirming just how much she wants Phoenix and London to grow up in the warm embrace of extended family.

“The next generation of the cousins is so cute to watch. It reminds me of when I was little with all my cousins,” she reminisces. “So I just think it’s so important for everyone to be together as a family for the holidays, and I can’t wait to build more traditions together and create more lasting memories.”

The next generation of cousins in question, of course, include the children of Hilton’s sister, Nicky Hilton Rothschild — daughters Lily-Grace and Teddy, and a son whose name Rothschild and her husband James have opted to keep private. And being a veteran mom, Rothschild has no shortage of advice for her sister.

“Paris is so new to this whole game, so I really encouraged her to socialize Phoenix more and sign him up for different music classes and gym classes and have him around other babies,” Rothschild tells SheKnows, adding that Hilton now hosts a “weekly baby class” at her home and gets her little onees together with the other kids in the family whenever possible. When it comes to the cousin hangouts, Rothschild shares the same sentiment as her sister: the more often, the better.

“That’s how we grew up with my mom [and her sisters] Kim and Kyle having all of their children so young, and roughly around the same age … we all grew up like sisters together,” she says. “So it’s sweet to see this new generation coming together and spending all this time together.”

Like Hilton, Rothschild is excited for even more togetherness in the upcoming weeks. “This holiday is going to be really special, just all of us being together. Because usually, Paris goes back home to see her in-laws, but this year she’s staying home with us,” she enthused. “So it will be a really sweet Christmas with all these cute babies. And that’s what the holidays are really all about.”

Season two of Paris in Love is streaming on Peacock now.
