Liam Payne’s funeral details are being set by his family. The star is expected to be laid to rest this week, but one person close to him won’t be allowed to attend

After his body was transported from Argentina to the United Kingdom, Liam Payne’s funeral date was reportedly scheduled by his family for sometime this week.

The One Direction star will be laid to rest this week in his hometown of Wolverhampton, but final funeral preparations come with one last major decision. As the pop star’s high-status forces the event to be private and limited to those in his personal life, Liam’s family was tasked with putting together a guest list for mourners.

Liam’s manager, Roger, is expected to be barred from attendance as an investigation about his potential alleged involvement in the singer’s death continues. The Argentinian music mogul was with Liam just ahead of his death at Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires.

A source told The Sun: “Liam’s family want his funeral to go off without a hitch and right now opinions are strained when it comes to Roger. It’s true he and Liam had a bond but he’s never been popular when it comes to Liam’s wider circle.”

Liam and Roger’s relationship, both business and friends, was strained and difficult as they once had a falling out.

However, the pair seemingly reconnected before Liam’s Latin America trip as the star and his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, stayed at Roger’s home briefly. According to the insider, those close to Liam weren’t even aware that he reconnected with Roger.

The final status of their relationship before Liam’s death is under question by the Teardrops signer, too. “There is a difference in the narrative, Roger would say he stepped back from working with Liam – others would say he was pushed,” said the insider.

Roger continues to deny any connection to the late celebrity’s death. He told local media: “I never abandoned Liam, I went to his hotel 3 times that day and left 40 minutes before this happened. There were over 15 people at the hotel lobby chatting and joking with him when I left.

“I could have never imagined something like this would happen. I’ve given my statement to the prosecutor on October 17 as a witness and I haven’t spoken to any police officer or prosecutor ever since.”

He further claimed that he was not Liam’s manager at the time of his death, but just a friend. However, The Sun claimed to have seen emails which indicated that Roger was spearheading business initiatives on Liam’s behalf.
