Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy left Argentina without him after issuing him with an ‘ultimatum’ as she begged the singer to leave the country with her

The mystery behind Kate Cassidy’s sudden departure from Argentina, leaving her boyfriend, One Direction star Liam Payne, has come to light.

Sources close to the waitress say she “had to go” after giving Payne an ultimatum due to his struggles with substance abuse. “She had to go,” a friend divulged. “It was becoming very unhealthy for everyone. She hoped he would follow her back to Miami.”

However, tragedy struck when Liam, aged 31, was found dead at Buenos Aires’ Casa Sur Hotel last month. The post-mortem examination revealed that Payne suffered multiple injuries and bled internally and externally after a fall in the hotel’s inner courtyard.

Argentine officials have dismissed foul play, and three individuals have since been charged in connection to the incident.

In the days leading up to his death, things reached a boiling point when a source told New York Post that their extended vacation to a “hostage situation” with Kate feeling increasingly confined as time dragged on. “It was becoming very unhealthy for everyone.

Initially, Kate and Liam had a brief five-day Latin American getaway on their itinerary, a stay which unexpectedly ballooned into two weeks, prompting disagreement.

On social media, Kate expressed her impatience at being marooned in one spot, sharing with her followers that she “hated” such standstills and felt compelled to return to their home base in Florida.

They told the outlet: “His drug use was causing a lot of drama. So she gave him an ultimatum: her or the drugs. He chose the drugs, so she had no choice but to remove herself from the situation. She thought she was doing tough love.”

Liam was open about his battles with addiction which even affected his ability to obtain a U.S. visa.

Due to his history with substance abuse and treatments, Liam found himself in a predicament when his visa expired which necessitated medical evaluations and drug screenings for its renewal.

Kate had reportedly been opening up to pals about her rocky romance with Liam, supposedly driving him to a crossroads.

Prior to his drug tests—which he successfully passed—Liam was believed to have been sober, a critical step towards regaining his visa. But it’s been reported that he relapsed into drug and alcohol use soon after ticking off the necessary requirements.

A press release by the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No. 14 confirmed that he had drugs in his system before his death. They stated he had had traces of “alcohol, cocaine and a prescription antidepressant” in his body.

In the aftermath of Liam’s tragic death, a gut-wrenched Kate shared an emotional eulogy online. In a heart-wrenching Instagram post a week after Liam’s tragic passing, Kate poured out her emotions to her followers: “I don’t even know where to begin.

My heart is shattered in ways I can’t put into words. I wish you could see the huge impact you’ve had on the world, even as it feels so dark right now.”

She added, “You brought so much happiness and positivity to everyone – millions of fans, your family, friends, and especially me. You are so incredibly loved.

You are – because I can’t say were – my best friend, the love of my life, and everyone you touched felt just as special as I did. Your energy was contagious, lighting up every room you walked into.”

Continuing her tribute, she said: “None of this feels real, and I can’t wrap my head around this new reality of not having you here. I’m struggling to figure out how to live in a world without you by my side. Together, we got to be kids again, always finding joy in the smallest things.

Liam, you had the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit. It feels like I’ve lost the best part of myself. I can’t imagine a day without your laughter and love. You brought so much light into my life.”

Kate shared that the couple had spent time “manifesting our lives together” just a few weeks prior, and she mentioned holding onto a note from Liam that read: “Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged and together forever 444. Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned.

You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel. I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go.”
