Judge Greg Mathis and Wife Linda to Divorce After 39 Years of Marriage

After nearly four decades together, TV personality Greg Mathis, widely known as “Judge Mathis,” and his wife Linda Mathis are officially ending their marriage.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ and E! News, Linda filed for divorce on August 22, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

The separation date is listed as July 17, 2023.

Greg Mathis, 64, and Linda Mathis tied the knot in June 1985 after meeting as students at Eastern Michigan University.

They share four children: daughters Jade (39) and Kamara (36), and sons Greg Jr. (35) and Amir (34).

All their children are adults, meaning custody or child support will not be an issue in the proceedings.

Linda has requested spousal support from Greg while also seeking to prevent the court from awarding Greg any spousal support.

Greg Mathis rose to fame as the star of Judge Mathis, the long-running syndicated courtroom show that aired from 1999 until 2023.

Over the course of its 24-year run, Mathis presided over more than 13,000 cases, earning a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program in 2018.

Following the show’s end, Mathis launched a new series, Mathis Court with Judge Mathis, in fall 2023.

The couple’s life and dynamic were also showcased on the 2022 reality series Mathis Family Matters, which aired on E!.

In one memorable episode, Greg celebrated receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, an achievement he credited to his family’s unwavering support.

He specifically praised Linda for enabling his career, saying, “After coming out of the streets in Detroit, Linda allowed me to work 15 hours a day, five to six days a week, so I could pursue success.”
