A turning point in the life of Reddit’s co-founder occurred in June 2020, when he resigned from the company’s board as a form of protest. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the handling of hate speech on the platform and asked that his position be filled by a black candidate.

In addition, he announced that he would allocate his future earnings in Reddit shares to initiatives to support the black community, with a focus on combating racial hatred.

As part of this commitment, he donated $1 million to Colin Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp and founded the company 776, dedicated to investing in startups that seek to change the world for the better.

Ohanian also explained that his decision was driven by his role as a father: “I say that as a father who needs to be able to answer his black daughter when she asks him, ‘What did you do?’ For him, staying at a company that didn’t live up to the values he expected when he founded it in 2005 was unacceptable, so he made the decision to leave.

Ohanian has not accompanied Serena to her recent beauty events. She knows it is Williams’ time, and has decided to break with traditional ‘mores’ that associate childcare exclusively with women.

Although Serena retired from the courts as a professional player, her passion for empowering other women remains intact.

After six years of research and development, Wyn Beauty officially launched last April. For this project, Serena partnered with Goog Glamm Group, a collaboration that allowed her to create products with her inclusive vision and distribute them in 685 Ulta Beauty stores across the United States.
