Piers Morgan thinks Prince William is ‘trying to cover something up’ regarding his wife Kate Middleton, as American media outlets make allegations about the state of the couple’s marriage

Piers Morgan has accused Prince William of “trying to cover something up” as Kate-gate continues to rumble on.

Morgan revealed on Wednesday night that he has “been told some” stuff – stressing that he doesn’t know if it true or not – and “it’s pretty alarming what is happening” if what he has been told about the Royal Family is to be believed. Morgan also shockingly agreed with a claim coming from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s camp regarding the drama – a first for the long-time critic of the couple.

The whereabouts of Kate Middleton, 42, is still a hot topic across the world, following Kensington Palace having to admit a snap shared across Wills and Kate’s social media channels on Mother’s Day had been edited – with The Firm refusing to release the original picture despite major media agencies issuing a kill notice on the doctored image.

Speaking on his YouTube channel on Wednesday night, former Good Morning Britain anchor Morgan discussed the scandal in depth and pondered why the Royal Family are handling the speculation regarding Kate so badly. Morgan also shared several clips from American shows discussing the future King and Queen’s relationship.

After airing a very brief segment from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, in which the comedian mocks the British Royal family, Morgan then tells his viewers: “He [Colbert] then went on to make some extraordinary allegations about the state of William and Kate’s marriage, which I won’t repeat.”

Piers Morgan Uncensored viewers were then shown a clip of British comic John Oliver joking on an American show, quipping: “There’s a non-zero chance Kate Middleton died 18 months ago.” To show how much coverage the Mother’s Day photoshop fail is getting stateside, a clip of a White House press office discussing the botched edit was then played.

“Was it actually taken last week?” Morgan then mused as he discussed the image himself. “They say so but can we believe that? If it was so awful [it needed editing] why not release one of the other photos from the archives they never released,” he continued to tell his viewers.”

Morgan then asked: “Why is Princess Catherine, who is recovering from abdominal surgery, spending time hunched over photoshop, making ameutuer edits of official portraits when they literally have servants to do that. Most baffling of all, why not edit in the missing wedding ring?”

Morgan then went on to say he has “enormous personal sympathy for the family” at the moment, mentioning the fact King Charles is currently being treated for an unspecified type of cancer, before taking a swipe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and then declaring: “Kate needs a break, I agree, but it was their decision to release this photograph and it’s led to even more conspiracy theories.”

He then introduced three guests to his viewers and the debate continued. At one point, Morgan revealed: “On one level [the edited picture] could be trivial – she could be fine and doing well and tried to do something to correct the conspiracies and got it wrong – or it could be that they’re hiding something.”

Morgan then sensationally claimed: “I’ve been told some stuff that, if even half of it is true, it’s pretty alarming what is happening. I don’t know what to believe, nor do any of us – we’re not there.” He then pointed out that the scandal has turned the Royal Family “into a laughing stock in America.”

Speaking later on during his YouTube broadcast, Morgan revealed that he has heard from sources that Harry and Meghan’s camp believe “all hell would have broken loose” if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had committed such a horrific picture blunder. “To which to that I say yes actually,” Morgan said, “If they have said that, it’s a perfectly valid point.”

Kate was seemingly compelled to issue a personal message on social media on Monday morning after waking up to an outcry that she had “manipulated” her family picture. A friend said the future queen “would likely be upset by the furore caused by what was supposed to be an innocent family photograph”.

A statement shared to Kate and William’s joint Instagram account at 10.28am on Monday said: “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.”

The snap in question of photo of Kate and her kids – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine and Prince Louis, five – was shared by Kensington Palace on Sunday morning. The snap, allegedly taken by the Prince of Wales this year, was the first one since Kate had to stay in hospital for two weeks after having abdominal surgery on January 16. But major picture agencies like the Associated Press (AP), Reuters, Agence France-Presse (AFP) and Getty Images removed the image from their databases hours on from the palace, amid concerns the image had been edited.
