Alexis Ohanian might be a tech mogul and successful entrepreneur, but when it comes to his role as a dad, he’s just Papa—the pancake-flipping, restaurant-hopping, bedtime-story-telling kind of dad who’s setting serious Dad Goals.
Whether it’s whipping up his signature “Papa pancakes” on weekends or indulging in his daughters’ favorite pastimes, Ohanian’s love for his family knows no bounds.
But here’s where things get hilarious: despite his multi-millionaire status and the empire he’s built through his business ventures, his elder daughter Olympia has a simple perspective on who her dad really is as she doesn’t care enough about his stature.
The 41-year-old participated in an interview for Simon Sinek’s A Bit of Optimism Podcast, in November this year.
He deliberated on a wide range of factors from his professional endeavors to his personal life involving his wife and daughters.
In the podcast, Ohanian revealed that while his business success might be fascinating for many investors and founders who take his advice seriously, his 7-year-old daughter Olympia is not so intrigued about her father’s stature.
Speaking in the interview, Ohanian made a hilarious confession and also revealed his parenting struggles in teaching Olympia.
“There are definitely times when I’m like I can have such an impact on these Founders who like listen to everything I say. But my seven-year-old could not care less.
I’m trying to teach her about uh continents and uh and I’m like Olympia…like God…in the rest of my life… my work life, it’s not very hard for me to get folks to pay attention but boy,” he said. Elaborating further, Ohanian added, “She just doesn’t care, she’s just you know short attention span.”
For the unversed, Ohanian and Serena Williams’ elder daughter Olympia, became a co-owner of the Angel City FC National Women’s Soccer League franchise: WFC LA/Angel City beside her parents in 2020.
Notably, Disney chief executive Bob Iger and his wife Willow Bay, became the new majority controlling owner of the team this year, valuing it at $250 million.
However, this is not the end of Ohanian’s financial contribution to Olympia. In 2023, at the age of 5, Olympia became proud co-owner of the Los Angeles Golf Club, the first team in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s tech-infused golf league, TGL, alongside her parents.
However, the cheeky confession by Ohanian reveals that these contributions have almost no impact on Olympia. She is even spotted teasing her father.
In a video shared by Ohanian on his Instagram story in October this year, he was heard asking Olympia, “My good old days? Is that what I sound like? I was still young, Olympia. I’m only 41,” But Olympia was quick to deny the fact and teased saying, “No you are not, you are 50,” leaving her father in splits.
A big chunk of Alexis Ohanian’s time is reserved for his family and he still manages to outdo all his business colleagues in terms of productivity.
When Alexis Ohanian slammed naysayers for commenting on his parenting style
Alexis Ohanian’s successful business career definitely does not impact the time he gives to his daughters. His frequent gateways and leisurely moments reveal his love for his children time and again.
In an interaction with Taylor Smith for the Offseason NFC podcast, Ohanian said, “I have business folks I work with. I have got guys who sincerely think I am not nearly as committed as I am to success at work because they know that side of my persona. And it’s so wild because I’m like, bro I know I outwork you, I know my returns are better than you.”
Continuing further, the ‘Business Dad’ added, “But I think it’s cute that you have this idea that I can’t be showing up for my kids, making some pancakes, and also show up to beat your a–.”
Alexis Ohanian is an adorable dad and he keeps showing it time and again with his gestures and words. But the question is – when will Olympia start listening to him seriously?
