Kylie Jenner’s relationship with Timothée Chalamet has survived because she is refusing to play the publicity game and won’t succumb to her mom Kris Jenner’s desire for the actor to proudly flaunt her daughter to the world.
The beauty mogul, 26, and the Dune star, 28, were pictured enjoying a date night on Friday, marking the first time they had been spotted together in public since their PDA-packed appearance at this year’s Golden Globes back in January.
The low-key couple continued their preference for hiding their relationship as they attempted to go incognito in caps and face masks at the TCL Chinese Theatre.
Kylie is reportedly keen to avoid their romance becoming a ‘spectacle’ and is not pressuring the Wonka star to join their family reality show, The Kardashians.
‘Kylie and Timothée are going so well because Kylie is not putting ultimatums on him to be a part of the Kardashians TV show,’ an insider told DailyMail.com exclusively.
‘Theirs is a more private relationship in which they can be as normal a couple as is possible considering their levels of fame.’
Momager Kris, 68, has reportedly expressed her desire for Kylie and her boyfriend to be more open about the relationship but her daughter has been fighting back.
‘Kris would love for Timothée to flaunt Kylie everywhere – but Kylie is making sure to fight this because she actually doesn’t want to make it more of a spectacle than it already is,’ the insider said.
‘She wants to nurture the relationship and have it last and not make a mockery out of it. They love doing normal and fun things with each other and are homebodies.’
They also revealed that Timothée is equally as dedicated to helping the relationship grow, despite previous claims he was not prioritizing the billionaire.
‘Timothée wants to focus all his attention away from work on her,’ they said. ‘He wants to be with Kylie for a long time.
‘When are the babies coming? When is the engagement? When is the future wedding? Though those things are definitely on the table, it is not something for the immediate future.’
The couple’s outing last week follows their double date in New York City in May, although they were not photographed together at the time.
Kylie and Timothée joined another couple at the hotspot called Tatiana by Kwame Onwuachi, per People.
During the relaxing outing, an insider claimed Timothée was ‘really chill and so nice.’
Kylie is based in Los Angeles with her two children Stormi, six, and Aire, two, while Timothee has been in New Jersey filming the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, in which he plays the legendary musician.
The couple sparked romance rumors in April 2023 after first crossing paths a few months earlier at Paris Fashion Week.
They went on to put on several loved up displays at a Beyoncé concert and at the US Open back in September.
The smitten pair were last pictured together in January when they shared a kiss and struggled to keep their hands to themselves at this year’s Golden Globes.
It was later reported that Timothee had met Kylie’s children, who she has with ex-boyfriend Travis Scott, with a source telling Us Weekly: ‘Timothée has met them in group situations where there were other family members or friends around.’
They added that Kylie’s family ‘adores’ the actor and stated: ‘They are all for this relationship and really hope it lasts.’
But in early March, the couple were plagued by rumors of a split after going nearly three months without being seen together.
Insiders told DailyMail.com at the time that they had not ended their relationship and insisted their absence from public view was a conscious decision to ‘protect’ their romance.
The following month, rumors began to swirl on social media that Kylie was expecting her first child with the actor.
Comedian Daniel Tosh had alleged during an episode on his podcast that Kylie was pregnant and claimed she revealed the news while filming The Kardashians at a market in Malibu.
However, a source shut down the speculation, telling DailyMail.com that the rumors were ‘100 per cent false.’
Timothée has not featured on The Kardashians, despite season five – which aired on May 23 – showing Kylie spending time abroad during Paris Fashion Week last year, where she had been spotted with him at the time.
The Wonka actor did not make any appearance in the episode, and has not mentioned throughout.
It is a stark contrast to Kylie’s sisters who have all documented their highly publicized and, at times, traumatic relationships.
Khloe Kardashian, 40, has detailed the painful aftermath of Tristan Thompson’s paternity scandal and Kim Kardashian, 43, has broken down in tears over her drama-plagued divorce with Kanye West, while Kourtney Kardashian, 45, has spoken candidly about her very active sex life with husband Travis Barker.
