Ray J Says ‘There Might’ve Not Been OnlyFans’ w/o Kim Kardashian Sex Tape + Talks Pursuing His Now-Wife Princess Love When She Was w/ Floyd Mayweather
Ray J is reflecting on how different the world might be if his infamous sex tape with Kim Kardashian had never been released.
The 43-year-old singer and television personality appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay to discuss one of the biggest pop culture moments ever: his sex tape with the now 43-year-old billionaire, Kim Kardashian.
Regarding the effects of the tape’s release, Shannon Sharpe inquired,
“How different is that family life?”
Ray J shifted to a broader question, asking,
“I think more of the question is: how different would we all be? How different would this whole f****** thing be? How different would the industry be? Everything would be different.”
He elaborated on how the world could be if the tape was never released, saying:
“Probably more people would be going to college and getting an education. There might not be an OnlyFans and all those other opportunities.”
Ray J says that everything would be different if he didn’t do the tape with Kim Kardashian
“…more people would be going to college… there might not be any OnlyFans… are we apart of the cure or are we apart of the disease…”

The 2007 release of Kim Kardashian and Ray J’s sex tape significantly impacted both their careers. For Kim, it catapulted her to international fame, leading to the success of her reality TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians and her business ventures, making her a prominent figure in popular culture and a billionaire entrepreneur.
Ray J also gained increased notoriety and advanced his music and business career. The tape’s release exemplified how viral scandals could transform personal controversy into commercial success.
When asked if he was ever embarrassed by the tape, with hesitation, Ray J replied,
“Yea, I have kids now. The whole thing is wacky.”
Social media was abuzz with lots of commentary surrounding Ray J’s thoughts on his infamous sex tape with Kim K, with many users on X (formerly Twitter) agreeing that the moment helped create influencer culture, plastic surgery trends, and normalized internet sex work.
One X user commented,
“It’s true. There would be no Kardashians which created the influencer culture. It’s a crazy Domino effect.”
Another X user wrote,
“In a way he’s right bcs very early on in her career of remaining relevant, she was this big sex symbol & it started a trend of cosmetic surgery to be a sex symbol too. I get it.”

In another part of the interview, Ray J also spoke about another woman who has greatly impacted his life: his estranged wife, Princess Love. The two met through boxing star Floyd Mayweather, whom he was friends with at the time.
Shannon asked,
“You met your wife through Floyd, right?
Ray J paused briefly before responding:
“The situation was weird when we started to like each other. It was weird because I really liked her, and she was still kind of in a situation with PB [Floyd Mayweather].”
Ray J explained that, as a consequence of him developing feelings for Princess Love, his relationship with Floyd Mayweather seemingly ended because Floyd also had a romantic involvement with Princess.
