‘WE SEND OUR CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY. MAY THE ANCESTORS WELCOME HIM WITH OPEN ARMS. ASE’

Olugbemi was well known in the DMV for his budding career as a professional boxer. He was a three-time Golden Gloves States boxing champion, including this year.

In May, he pulled off three straight split-decision wins to take the heavyweight crown at the National Golden Gloves tournament.

Earlier this month, Olugembi beat newcomer Matthew Allen by unanimous decision.

He was also a two-time All-American, a Junior Olympics Gold medalists and a two-time Open Regional champion.

Olugbemi’s death comes seven months after another Anwar ‘The Silent Assassin’ Wingate, another prominent boxer from Maryland, was killed during an armed robbery.

Wingate was shot in the neck after he tried to fight off two men who were able to get the jump on him by catching him off guard in November, 2023.
