Boxing fans will have to wait a little while longer in order to see Mike Tyson fight Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium. The bout has been rescheduled from its original July 20 date, and it will now take place on Nov. 15, when it will be streamed live on Netflix from Arlington, Texas.
Even though the new date has been publicly confirmed, many in the sports world are still skeptical that it will actually happen. The 57-year-old Tyson‘s health remains an issue, and a UFC legend is the latest to go on-record with his pessimism over the bout.
Dan Hardy does not think the fight will take place
Former UFC welterweight contender Dan Hardy has told talkSPORT that he doubts Tyson and Paul will touch gloves this November. Hardy called Paul a “mastermind marketer” for agreeing to fight Tyson, but he noted that there are still five months to go before the fight and anything can happen after Tyson’s ulcer flare-up.
“I’ll be honest, I’ll be surprised if it actually happens,” Hardy said. “I think there’s a lot of days between now and then for something to happen and the fight to not take place.”
If the bout goes ahead later this year, Hardy believes Paul will have the upper hand, but “Iron Mike” can never be discounted.
“I would never, never, ever count Mike Tyson out, he’s got that fire in his eyes. You can still see it and he still moves very, very well,” Hardy said. “At the same time, Jake Paul is a young, big, powerful athlete and he’s got the chance to fight Mike Tyson. That brings an extra level out anxiety of you, surely.”
Still, despite Hardy’s pessimism, both Tyson and Paul remain publicly confident that the fight will be held on its new date in November. In fact, Paul’s most recent post on X (formerly Twitter) about the subject makes it clear that knocking out Tyson on Nov. 15 remains his priority.
