The highly-anticipated boxing match between the legendary Mike Tyson and YouTube star Jake Paul has received a significant update that will disappoint fans.
On Friday, Netflix announced that the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match has been postponed to “a date later this year” because of a “flare up” regarding Tyson’s ulcer. Netflix added that will be announced at a later date.
Per Andreas Hale of ESPN, the following statement was released on the decision to postpone the match:
“During a follow up consultation on Thursday with medical professionals on his recent ulcer flare up, the recommendation is for Mike Tyson to do minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training with no limitations.”
The showdown between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul was announced back in March. The event was scheduled to take place at the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys’ home venue of AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The stadium has a capacity of over 80,000.

Tyson’s last match as a professional boxer took place against Kevin McBride on June 11, 2005 at the MCI Center in Washington, DC. Tyson, then 38 years of age, lost to McBride via technical knockout. Tyson faced Roy Jones Jr. (then 51 years of age) in an exhibition match on Nov. 28, 2020 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The match ended in a split draw.
A former undisputed world heavyweight champion, Tyson won 50 of his 58 professional boxing matches, with 44 coming via knockout. He lost six of them and had two no contest rulings.
As for Paul, he has a professional boxing record of 9-1. His only loss came to Tommy Fury on Feb. 26, 2023 via split decision.
Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul Will Be Worth The Wait
As disappointing as the postponement is for boxing fans, the can’t-miss showdown between Tyson and Paul promises to be worth it. Obviously, Tyson’s health and well-being has to come first, and the match will be that much more entertaining if he’s close to full strength.
