An anonymous New York woman claims the incident happened inside Tyson’s limo in the early 1990s.

Mike Tyson is being sued A$7 million for an alleged rape case from the 1990s

Mike Tyson is reportedly being sued by a New York woman claiming he allegedly raped her in a limo in the early 1990s.

New York Post reports that the anonymous woman is seeking A$7 million (£4m, US$5m) in damages.

She alleges that the incident happened after the two met at a popular nightclub in Albany and that the incident has caused her ‘physical, psychological, and emotional injury’ in the years since.

The report claims that the case doesn’t have an exact date for the alleged attack but it happened sometime during the early 1990s.

The alleged time coincides with Tyson’s previous rape conviction of 18-year-old beauty pageant contestant Desiree Washington in Indianapolis.

The 56-year-old served three years in prison following his conviction.

He has maintained his innocence in that case.

The current legal action was filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act which gives sexual assault victims a one-year window to file lawsuits over incidents that happened years ago.

The alleged victim claims that she and Tyson ran into each other at a place called ‘Septembers’ before she later got into his limo after he offered to pick up her friend and take the both of them to a party.

She alleges that the boxer immediately started touching and kissing her despite telling him ‘no several times’ and asking him to stop.

The affidavit reads: “He then pulled my pants off and violently raped me.”

The document does not say whether the driver was inside the vehicle at the time of the alleged rape.

The woman is remaining anonymous in order to pose a further risk of ‘mental harm, harassment, ridicule, or personal embarrassment’.

Her attorney Darren Seilback says that the office investigated her allegations thoroughly and determined they were ‘highly credible’.

Tyson was one of the most respected athletes inside the boxing ring in the 1980s and 1990s.

However, the former heavyweight champion’s life outside of the sport often saw his in-ring prowess slewed with controversy.
