Mike Tyson recently confessed that that this time of abstinence is due to the disciplined preparation he is following for his fight with Jake Paul
Mike Tyson continues his preparation for his July 20 bout with Jake Paul. The former heavyweight champion has taken the fight very seriously. In a videotaped interview with Forbes Life, he stated that “for probably six weeks I haven’t done drugs or had sex.”

Tyson, 58, noted that the decision to give up marijuana and sex is due to the discipline it imposes on him to arrive as well as possible for the fight at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. “I’m living my life in a disciplined way now, so now I’m going to have to fight disciplined,” he commented.
On Saturday, in another interview, this time on The Damon Elliott Show, he downplayed the ‘abstinence’ time “I haven’t smoked for two and a half weeks now. And I haven’t had sex for two and a half weeks.” In 2018, Tyson had previously said he gave up sex for about five years because he believed it would make him a better boxer.
The marijuana waiver was part of the regulations for the Paul fight, as its use is banned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which oversees combat sports in Texas. And, therefore, he could test positive if he smoked before the bout.
The bout has raised a lot of buzz. Tyson noted a few days ago: “Everybody, even most athletes, is jealous of me, it’s crazy… Even in the best of times, you couldn’t draw a million people, you couldn’t sell out a stadium. You couldn’t sell out a stadium. Who at 58 could sell out an 80,000-seat stadium? Why do you think he [Jake Paul] wants to fight me and not anybody else?”
