WWE legend Hulk Hogan grilled Jake Paul on whether his fight with Mike Tyson was scripted.
Social media star Paul and heavyweight legend Tyson were due to clash next month before the latter was forced to postpone the fight after suffering an ulcer flare-up. The bout, to be held over eight two-minute rounds, will now take place on November 15.
Fans and fighters alike have questioned whether the fight will be real or scripted – and Hulk Hogan was among the doubters until he spoke to Paul. “I’m friends with both guys,” he told TMZ. “I love Mike to death, but I was in Miami for the Formula 1 races with Jake Paul. I pulled Jake aside and said, ‘Hey brother, what’s up with this thing? Is this a work like wrestling, or are you guys going to really go at it?’
“He [Paul] says, ‘I’m going to knock him out!’ So I’m excited about it. I’m glad it is rescheduled because I don’t want any excuses. I want both men at 100 per cent. I get a feeling this will be the fight of the century. This is going to be a good one.”
Paul has potentially put his fight with Tyson in jeopardy by agreeing to fight former UFC fighter and current bare-knuckle boxing star Mike Perry next month. The pair will clash in Florida after trading verbal insults for several years.
“Now, as I prepare for my fight against Iron Mike, there’s no better opponent for me than Mike Perry,” added Paul. “He’s a proven knockout artist who has shown to be a maniac in and out of the ring. This is the perfect experience for me to gain in advance of facing Mike Tyson. But getting that experience comes with risk.
“Those who know me know I’m a risk taker and while ‘Platinum’ Perry might try to end me, I’m Titanium Jake Paul and I fear no man. I’m going to get the W and give everyone a preview of what I’m bringing to the ring against Mike Tyson. Tune in on DAZN PPV as I return to Tampa and send ‘Platinum’ Perry the Platypus back to bare knuckle for good.”
