Controversial boxer Ryan Garcia claims he is ‘officially retired’ from the sport in latest social-media rant, while going on about being sued by Logan Paul and his mom’s cancer diagnosis.
Garcia ranting on social media, especially X, has become commonplace. Yet, he has never threatened to step away from boxing in any of his previous rants.
Paul’s energy drink brand, Prime, filed a defamation lawsuit against Garcia in Texas last month, with an Instagram post where Garcia said ‘@loganpaul come on bro you hurting kids you pedo allegedly’ being the final straw.
Earlier this month, Garcia stated his mother, Lisa Garcia, had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
This also comes a month after the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association announced Garcia tested positive for performance-enhancing drug Ostarine around the time of his fight with Devin Haney, a bout he won, but did not claim Haney’s WBC lightweight title due to missing weight.

Garcia now has claimed he is done with boxing despite being at the peak of his career
‘Mom has cancer. I’m being sued. My supplements were tainted. Going thru a divorce,’ Garcia said.
‘Always GETTING SHIT TALKED on the internet FOR YEARS Devin asking for my victory to be taken away I’m getting hit with everything I STILL LOVE GOD, HE IS EVERYTHING.,’ he continued.
‘Not asking for sympathy. I’m asking for war. I’m only going to bring more vengeance. In the end these are worldly problems. JESUS LOVES ME and in the end that’s all that matters,’ Garcia added.
‘Boxing will be alright without me. But still sucks I was fun in the game. And it was fun to punch people,’ Garcia concluded. ‘…I’m officially retired.’
How serious Garcia is about never fighting again when he is one of the most recognizable names in the sport has yet to be seen.
A rematch with Haney, another attempt at beating Gervonta Davis, or any number of worthy contenders could be Garcia’s next fight. We’ll see if he ever steps between those ropes again.
