DAVID Coulthard has claimed doctors told him his sex drive is still high in his fifties due to the adrenaline of his motor racing career.

The former Formula 1 driver had his testosterone levels checked by medics and was told they were in the top one per cent of men in his age group.

Testosterone – the male sex hormone – naturally declines as men get older.

Experts estimate its drops by around one per cent per year after men reach the age of 40.

Coulthard, 53, said his elevated readings were put down to the high levels of adrenaline he experienced during his high-octane career on the track.

He said he had been given a “glowing report” on his testosterone by doctors and his 29-year-old girlfriend, the Swedish model Sigrid Silversand.

Coulthard, originally of Twynholm, Kirkcudbrightshire, was known for dating a string of models during his days as a Formula 1 driver.

He split up with Belgian TV presenter Karen Minier in 2022 after nine years of marriage and is now dating Silversand.

He spoke about his testosterone results on his podcast Formula For Success which he co-hosts with businessman Eddie Jordan.

Asked by former Formula 1 team owner Jordan what his girlfriend thinks of his testosterone levels, he said: “I got a glowing report there and also a medical report.
