As Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship progresses, swifties are increasingly becoming Travis Kelce fans as well.

That, of course, caused a rise in popularity for the Kansas City Chiefs, something Jason Kelce was not so happy about.

As glad as he is that his brother is in a healthy, loving relationship, he recently pointed out how the swifties’ love for Travis has been detrimental to his Philadelphia Eagles.

Recently, while talking with his brother on their podcast, he joked about how the swifties are too infatuated with Travis Kelce, and the Chiefs’ player jumped to their defense, ironically earning even more points with Taylor Swift fans.

Travis Kelce Defended Swifties From His Brother’s Jokes

It’s no secret that the Kelce brothers are very close. In addition to sharing the same passion and career, the two players work together in their podcast New Heights Podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, where they talk about sports, life, and everything in between. Of course, over the past few months, Taylor Swift has taken up a lot of their time. It’s not every day your brother starts dating the biggest pop star on the planet, and it’s only natural that Jason would want to talk about that with Travis. Taylor’s recent appearances at NFL games have led to her fans’ growing interest in the sport, and a rise in the number of supporters of the Kansas City Chiefs.

In a recent episode of the podcast, Jason Kelce jokingly addressed the swifties, accusing them of voting for the Chiefs in the podcast’s contest “NFL Best Team Name Bracket” purely because of Travis.

“The Swifties have this unrealistic infatuation with the Chiefs and Travis Kelce, and they’re only voting based on their love for you, not on their love for the team name, so it wasn’t a realistic representation,” Jason pointed out, all in good fun, but Travis wasn’t having it. “Why the f— are you blaming all the losses on the [Swifties]?” he asked defensively. This hilarious interaction ended with Jason extending an olive branch, asking swifties to vote for New Heights for podcast of the year.

Jason Was Initially Wary About Travis And Taylor Swift’s Relationship

Any tension between Jason Kelce and Taylor Swift had nothing to do with them disliking each other. Jason had nothing but good things to say about Taylor Swift as a person, as have most people who had the chance to know her. No, the NFL player’s wariness came from a place of brotherly protectiveness. Travis is his little brother after all. A few months ago, when he was asked about Travis’ new relationship, he said that he was equally happy and worried about it.

“This is another level of stardom that typically football players don’t deal with. It’s certainly been weird, the level that it is now,” he admitted. “On one hand, I’m happy for my brother that he seems to be in a relationship that he’s excited about, that he is genuine about. But there’s another end of it where it’s like, ‘Man, this is a lot.’ There’s paparazzi talking about him fueling his car before the game today and I’m like, ‘Is that really necessary information to share?’”

Despite the initial worries, it seems that now everyone in the Kelce family is warming up to Taylor. Even if they disagree with the swifties sometimes.
