Ronaldo said in an interview with Piers Morgan leading to the early termination of his contract with MU: “That was a year ago or six months ago. We were at my house, Wayne Rooney was picking up the kids here and invited my son to his house to play soccer”.

Al Nassr captain Ronaldo continued: “I don’t know why Wayne Rooney criticized me so badly, maybe because he has ended his career and I am still playing at a high level.” Ronaldo went on further to say: “I’m not going to say I look better than Wayne Rooney, but that’s the truth”.

Ronaldo emphasized that he no longer considers Rooney or Sky Sports commentator Gary Neville as friends due to their negative comments about him. Ronaldo said: “They are not my friends, they are colleagues. We play together, they won’t come here, we won’t have dinner together”.

As the coach of DC United, Wayne Rooney was asked about Ronaldo’s response by the media. Rooney said: “There is probably no footballer on this planet who is not jealous of Cristiano Ronaldo. The career he has, the titles he has won, the money he has earned, his six-pack body, his physique. I think every footballer, maybe Lionel Messi, is jealous of Cristiano Ronaldo”.
