Portugal’s first training session at Euro 2024 was chaotic, when excited fans invaded the field. And someone hugged Cristiano Ronaldo tightly.

Ronaldo  and his Portugal teammates had their first training session at Gütersloh in front of nearly 8,000 fans. 

The atmosphere was initially filled with excitement, then became chaotic when about a dozen fans rushed into the field. And this caused the training session to suddenly stop. Despite the efforts of security staff, the fans still tried to approach the Portuguese players.

In it, a fan rushed to hug Ronaldo. When tension increased, Portuguese goalkeeper Jose Sa took quite an impressive action by sprinting nearly 50 meters to knock down an aggressive fan. 

This is an action that could result in a red card in a match, but is praised as “brave”. It also shows the Portuguese players’ frustration with the security staff. This is because they were not drastic in preventing crazy fans from rushing onto the field from approaching the players. 

The Portuguese team is in Group F at  Euro 2024 with the Czech Republic, Turkey and Georgia. In the opening match on June 19, Portugal will meet the Czech Republic at Red Bull Arena Leipzig.
