Rihanna is a savage in the boardroom as she admits: ‘I love competing with men’

Rihanna might be at the top of her game in music, fashion, beauty and pretty much anything else she does, but the popstar still gets a thrill out of competing with men.

Erm, as if they’re really any competition for our Bad Gal RiRi. Sorry, fellas.

The Work singer took part in a short Q&A at this year’s Global Conference on Women & Entrepreneurship this week, where she gave advice to like-minded women wanting to launch their own businesses.

And who better than to give advice than Rihanna, who has swapped music in recent years to launch the lucrative Fenty Beauty, Savage x Fenty lingerie line and the Fenty luxury clothing collection?

In fact this week, the Wall Street Journal reported that Savage x Fenty received a $70 million (£62.7 million) investment after a strong first year of sales.

So it’s no surprise that Rihanna, 31, is willing to take on any man who steps in her way.

Speaking via video link, the popstar told the audience: ‘Overcoming stereotypes as a woman in the entrepreneurship industry, it’s an industry that’s usually looked at as a man’s industry.

‘A man’s world, so you have to work twice as hard to prove yourself and to get half as much but it doesn’t stop my fight.

‘I love competing with men. I love that challenge, I enjoy it and I thrive on it.’

The Rude Boy singer went on to explain that while it’s historically thought of as ‘a man’s world’, women ultimately have the power.

‘I believe that females have a lot of disadvantages when it comes to starting a career… because a lot of times people see it as a man’s world and a lot of times it’s dependent upon a man to even let you into that,’ the singer said.

‘But our strength as women, we have the power to overcome anything.

‘We have been doing this since the beginning of time to multitask and to overcome challenges.’
