Rick Ross’s son William Roberts III commits to play collegiate football at Bethune-Cookman University

Rick Ross‘ son is headed to a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) for his collegiate football career. William Roberts III has committed to Bethune-Cookman University, in Daytona Beach, Fla. Roberts’ mother Tia Kemp proudly shared the news on Instagram.

“Let’s Go WILDCATS” she exclaimed. “GOD IS THE GREATEST.”

247 Sports reported the 6-foot-2-inch, 270-pound linebacker has played varsity football at St. Thomas Aquinas since his freshman year. Notable alumni of the program include San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Nick Bosa, Los Angeles Chargers defensive lineman Joey Bosa, Cincinnati Bengals running back Giovani Bernard, Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Brandon Linder, Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette, New England Patriots running back James White and Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman Geno Atkins.

“Will’s size, strength, and athleticism have enabled him to play some quality time this season and start a couple of games,” detailed St. Thomas Aquinas head coach Roger Harriott to the sports outlet. “He’s an extremely talented player and a well-rounded, character-oriented person. Additionally, he was offered a scholarship from Albany State University, the HBCU in Georgia where his father Rick Ross played football after graduating from Miami Carol City in 1993, according to the Miami Herald.

HBCU Gameday reported Bethune-Cookman University’s football program is preparing for its second season under head coach Raymond Woodie Jr. The Wildcats finished the 2023-2024 season with a 3-8 overall record.
