Swifites rejoiced at the Grammys after Taylor Swift announced she’ll be releasing her 11th album very soon.

And with all the attention surrounding her relationship with Travis Kelce, which she debuted last September, there’s speculation over whether their romance will be the inspiration behind Taylor’s new songs.

Taylor made the revelation during the 2024 Grammys as she accepted the award for Best Pop Vocal Album on Sunday, February 4. As she basked in what was her 13th Grammy win, Taylor took a moment to share her big secret during her acceptance speech.

“The way I can celebrate is by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the past two years, which is that my brand new album comes out April 19th,” she told the audience. “It’s called The Tortured Poets Department and I’m going to go post the cover right now backstage.”

True to her word, Taylor then took to Instagram, where she unveiled the album’s artwork, depicting her reclining on a bed adorned in black lingerie. Accompanying the visual, Swift poignantly penned what appear to be lyrics from a new hit.

“And so I enter into evidence my tarnished coat of arms. My muses acquired like bruises, my talismans and charms,” the handwritten words read. “The tick, tick, tick of love bombs. My view of pitch-black ink. All’s fair in love and poetry… Sincerely, The Chairman of the Tortured Poets Department.”

Taylor Swift Will Likely Reference Travis Kelce In Her New Album

Fans have been speculating for some time that Taylor is gearing up to release a new album, despite being in the middle of her record-breaking Eras world tour.

She initially fueled anticipations when celebrating the ascension of her song “Cruel Summer” to the summit of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in October after releasing her revamped version of the song. Posting a series of photos to Instagram, Swift’s subtle gesture of holding up one finger, juxtaposed with her cowriter Jack Antonoff’s display of all ten fingers, sent fans into a frenzy, interpreting it as a cryptic nod to her impending 11th album.

Nevertheless, despite the initial excitement, some fervent Swifties remained convinced that the unveiling of a new record would only occur after the conclusion of her Eras tour, slated to wrap up in November 2024. Nevertheless, it appears the theories were right, as Taylor is going to be gracing fans with new music this year.

What does remain a mystery, however, is what the content of her songs will explore. Taylor broke up with her long-time boyfriend Joe Alwyn at the start of 2023, so it’s possible she’ll reveal more insights into their surprising break-up. But amid reports she’s having doubts about the future with her current beau Travis Kelce (which contrasts rumors the couple are planning an engagement, if they haven’t already committed in secret), it’s also highly possible that much of the new album will be dedicated to Taylor’s new romance and the mixed feels she may be having about it. For now, all Swifties can do is wait patiently for the new album to drop.
