The leading goal-scorer in football history, Cristiano Ronaldo, established a new goal-scoring record after his last night’s heroics against Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League. The 39-year-old record breaker scored a brace on Monday as Al-Nassr defeated Al-Ittihad 4-2. The Portuguese superstar took to his social media handle to announce himself as the all-time top scorer in a single Saudi Pro League season.

With his two goals against Al-Ittihad in Al-Nassr’s last match of the Saudi Pro League 2023-24 season, Ronaldo extended his total to 35 goals and 11 assists in 31 SPL games this season. With his 35th goal, the Al-Nassr captain surpassed Al-Ittihad’s Abderrazak Hamdallah, who scored 34 goals in 2019 for Al-Nassr.

The Portugal captain also becomes the first player ever to win a top scorer award in four different leagues in the world including Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, and Saudi Pro League. After breaking another record, Ronaldo took to X and wrote, “I don’t follow the records, the records follow me.”

After his first two goals in the first half were disallowed due to offsides, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner received a long pass in the injury time of the first half from Mohammed Al-Fatil for his first goal. Ronaldo, with a beautiful touch, brought down the long pass with his chest before scoring a low shot from his left foot.
