Cardi B always nails the Met Gala theme, and this year is no exception.
The rapper struck a pose on the carpeted steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where attendees are dressing according to this year’s theme, “in honor of Karl,” which pays tribute to the legacy of late great designer Karl Lagerfeld.
She wore a structured ballgown by Chenpeng Studio, which began with a white shirt collar and tie before transitioning into a fitted black sweetheart bodice adorned with silver studs. The full black skirt featured a quilted overlay a la Chanel’s Boy Bag, and was covered in huge sculptural rosettes.

Cardi added matching black opera gloves, while wearing statement pearl and silver earrings. She traded her black hair for a chic silver-toned bob with flipped ends, tied with a leather hairband.

The rosette-covered look was actually her second of the night. The musician left her hotel ahead of the event in a strapless pink bejeweled gown featuring a plunging neckline and an ornate circular embellishment made of tufted fabric, which rose above her head and covered her back. She added a multi-strand pearl choker necklace, matching multi-strand bracelets, and a hair decoration with a teardrop pearl touching her forehead.

The “Money” rapper has made it to the “best dressed” list with several of her Met Gala appearances, including her papal-inspired, jewel-adorned gown and headpiece at the 2018 event. She also wore an extravagant Thom Browne crimson coat dress, which was adorned with feathers and featured a huge circular train, to the 2019 gala.
Last year, the star collaborated with Versace on a show-stopping gold glittery gown and matching gloves, which were both covered in coins, chains, and square pendant detailing. For her glam, the rapper opted for neutral, ’90s-inspired makeup and wore her hair in a voluminous bouffant.
