Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk could happen this year after all.
Frank Warren says a ‘step aside’ could allow a blockbuster undisputed clash between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk to happen in July.
Fury vs. Usyk was scheduled to take place at Wembley Stadium on April 29 until both parties failed to agree terms for an undisputed showdown.
However, the bout could still be made this summer, with Fury’s promoter Warren explaining a potential scenario for it to finally happen.
The 71-year-old suggested Daniel Dubois might entertain a ‘step aside’ fee to allow Usyk to forego his mandatory challenger in order to face the WBC title holder.

“If Usyk remains undefeated then there is a chance to get that done if it goes on in Saudi,” he said. “The other option – Daniel Dubois is now the official mandatory – if there was a step aside situation we could do the fight in July.”
The 25-year-old Brit is the WBA mandatory challenger and owns the WBA (regular) world title. He’s in line to face Usyk, who holds the WBA (super) world title.
But Dubois, who is also promoted by Warren, could ‘step aside’ to allow Usyk and Fury to face each other for all the belts.

Fury vs. Usyk could take place in July, with Warren detailing the events leading up to the breakdown of their proposed April fight.
“As you know, talkSPORT Jim White and Simon Jordan show we were both on it,” he said. “He accepted Alex on there that he didn’t need 15 minutes to go through the problems.
“He accepted on Mother’s Day last Sunday when we had a call with four lawyers that there was only one outstanding point at that stage which was the rematch. On Monday I think they talked about terms the lawyers and then we got an email off Egis [Klimas].”
Warren then read out the email was was sent on Monday: “Gentlemen, I hope you are all okay. I’m not going to go into the details of blaming, or pointing fingers at anyone, but I would like to officially announce that Team Usyk is out of negotiations on the April 29 fight. You guys can put your pencils down for now. We’ll talk in the future.”
