Iron Mike asserts that he voluntarily refrained from engaging in non-sport-related activities for a span of five years in his endeavor to establish his prominence in the boxing arena.
His esteemed forerunner in the heavyweight division, Muhammad Ali, purportedly adopted a similar approach, abstaining from sexual encounters for durations extending up to one year, as he believed it could hinder his performance.
However, when questioned about his motives for adhering to this practice, Tyson responded with his characteristic candor, offering an open and sincere explanation.“I made that choice because I lacked wisdom,” he shared with Graham Bensinger.
“I acted foolishly, blindly following the advice of others.
“They convinced me that engaging with women would disrupt my boxing career.”
“I stepped into this profession as a completely unaware individual, driven by a desire for recognition due to my severely diminished self-worth.
“Imagine, at just 12 years old, seeking some form of acclaim because I felt my existence was utterly meaningless. It’s truly absurd.”
Recently, the two-time world heavyweight champion Tyson faced an unfortunate incident where he was refused entry into Chile, where he had plans to participate in an awards ceremony.
The 51-year-old has been found guilty of rape, assault, and cocaine possession in the past.
Authorities at Santiago airport stated that Tyson was deported due to “failure to comply with immigration regulations.”
