Al Nassr went trophyless this season as Al Hilal defeated them 5-4 on penalties after it ended 1-1 after extra time. Cristiano Ronaldo was very emotional after the loss and was crying on the pitch while the Al Hilal players were celebrating. CR7 wanted to win the King’s Cup trophy for Al Nassr to end a successful individual season in Saudi Arabia. While Ronaldo was upset at the end of the game, he did get revenge during the match and made fun of an Al Hilal player. In the 87th minute, Ali Al Bulayhi was sent off, and Ronaldo quickly approached him to laugh at him as he walked off. The Saudi Arabian defender is known to have caused the red card Ronaldo received against Al Hilal a few months back in the Saudi Super Cup semifinal. Ronaldo was captured laughing at the player as he was walking off the pitch, and then it led to Al Nassr’s equalizer.

Ronaldo’s Al Nassr conceded first in the King’s Cup final in the 7th minute of the match as Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a header in the box past David Ospina. Things were getting complicated for Al Nassr as Al Hilal was threatening in the first half and showcased the capabilities they had shown throughout the season that kept them undefeated domestically. Ronaldo and Al Nassr needed to respond back but they struggled to do so and were trailing at halftime.

In the second half, Ospina received a red card in the 56th minute, which complicated things even more for Al Nassr. In the 87th minute, Ali Al Bulayhi from Al Hilal received a red card, which made it a ten vs ten match. Ayman Ahmed scored the equalizer for Al Nassr in the 88th minute to send the game to extra time. But before that, Al Hilal received another red card as Kalidou Koulibaly sightly kicked the Al Nassr keeper in the 90th minute. Al Nassr had a one-man advantage heading into extra time.

No goals were scored in extra time, which meant a penalty shootout was needed to determine the winner between the two teams. Al Hilal’s Ruben Neves missed the first penalty of the shootout but hit the post. Al Nassr was next, and Alex Telles skied his shot over the bar. Mitrovic scored his penalty, and then Ronaldo scored his penalty. Kanno scored for Al Hilal, and Al-Najei scored for Al Nassr. Tambakti scored for Al Hilal and Ghareeb scored for Al Nassr. Al Hamdan scored for Al Hilal, and Lajami scored for Al Nassr. Abdulhamid from Al Hilal had his penalty saved, and as Al Nassr had the chance to win, Al-Hassan had his penalty saved by Bounou as well. Al Dawsari scored for Al Hilal, and then Al Nemar’s penalty was saved, which secured Al Hilal’s win. Ronaldo was super upset with the loss, and his teammates consoled him after the game.

Will Cristiano Ronaldo leave Al Nassr?

Ronaldo had an incredible season with Al Nassr, as he registered 44 goals and 13 assists in 45 games played across all competitions. CR7 was easily the best player for Al Nassr this season in terms of stats and the influence he has on the team, and the league is unlike any player. After not winning a trophy in this incredible season, many think that he may want to play elsewhere, like in Europe again.
