10. Romelu Lukaku – 6 goals

Lukaku debuted for the Belgian team in 2010 but was not called up to attend the EURO 2012 finals. At the 2016 tournament, the Chelsea striker was able to breathe the atmosphere of the most attractive arena on the continent.

Lukaku’s two goals in the finals that year both came in a 3-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland in the group stage. The Red Devils stopped in the quarterfinals when they lost 1-3 to Wales.

By the 2020 finals, Romelu Lukaku improved by scoring 3 goals. However, he still could not help Belgium advance beyond the quarterfinals. In the round for the eight strongest teams, the Red Devils lost 1-3 to the Italian champions. Lukaku scored 1 goal in this match.

9. Alvaro Morata – 6 goals

Morata impressed in his first EURO finals (2016) with 3 goals. In that year’s tournament, he and Spain lost to Italy in the 1/8 round.

In the 2020 tournament, the Atletico Madrid striker continued to “shoot” 3 times. La Roja and the Azzurri face each other again in the semi-finals. Morata became a criminal when he missed the fourth penalty kick, causing Spain to stop.

Rooney introduced himself to Europe at EURO 2004 with two doubles against Switzerland and Croatia. The former MU striker could not join the England team at EURO 2008.

Gomes debuted for Portugal in 1996 but was not called up to the European Selecao squad for that year’s EURO.

It was not until 4 years later that the 47-year-old former striker debuted in the most attractive arena on the continent. Gomes immediately impressed with 4 goals but could not help Portugal advance to the final (lost 1-2 to France in the semi-finals).

In the two finals of EURO 2004 and 2008, Nuno Gomes scored 1 goal, against Spain and Germany respectively. After the 2008 tournament, the former Benfica striker gradually lost his place in the national team and played his last match for Portugal in October 2011.

6. Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 6 goals

Ibrahimovic attended four consecutive EURO tournaments from 2004-2016. In the 2004, 2008 and 2012 finals, the former AC Milan striker all scored 2 goals.

At the 2016 tournament, Ibrahimovic started all three group stage matches but did not score any goals. Through four EUROs, the 42-year-old former striker’s best achievement with Sweden was reaching the quarter-finals (2004).

5. Thierry Henry – 6 goals

Right at his first EURO appearance (in 2000), Henry shined with 3 goals, making a great contribution to helping the French team win the championship. At EURO 2004, Henry scored 2 goals but Les Bleus had to stop in the quarterfinals against the Greek champions.

EURO 2008 was even sadder when the former Arsenal striker only scored 1 goal, and France was eliminated in the group stage.

4. Alan Shearer – 7 goals

Shearer impressed at the EURO tournaments he attended with great performance (7 goals in 9 matches). In the 1992 finals, the Newcastle legend only played one match.

Shearer was only really used at EURO in 1996, where he shined with 4 goals in 3 group stage matches. Entering the semi-finals, Shearer opened the scoring for England against Germany, but in the end the Three Lions were still eliminated in the penalty shootout.

In the 2000 tournament, Alan Shearer scored two goals against Germany and Romania, but England had to return home right from the group stage. The goal against Romania in the final match was the 53-year-old former striker’s last goal in the Three Lions shirt.

3. Antoine Griezmann – 7 goals

Griezmann first attended the EURO finals in 2016. The former Real Sociedad star immediately shined with 6 goals, bringing the French team to the final. Unfortunately for Griezmann, Les Bleus lost to Portugal in the final match.

At EURO 2020, the Atletico Madrid striker scored 1 goal in the group stage, France was then eliminated by Switzerland in the 1/8 round on penalties.

2. Michel Platini – 9 goals

Platini is probably the most special player on this list as he only participated in one EURO tournament (1984). In that year’s tournament, the 68-year-old former midfielder scored in every match for France, notably two hat-tricks against Belgium and Yugoslavia in the group stage.

Reaching the final, Platini opened the scoring, helping Les Bleus win 2-0 against Spain.

In 2020, at the tournament in France, Cristiano Ronaldo experienced the most explosive EURO period of his career with 5 goals. However, Portugal stopped in the 1/8 round when they lost 0-1 to Belgium.

Entering this tournament, CR7’s goal is nothing other than winning the championship. EURO 2024 could be the last major tournament for the former Real Madrid star.
