Taylor Swift took her to Eras Tour to Lyon at the weekend and left fans stunned by her emotional final words on a song about her ex, Joe Alwyn
Taylor Swift has openly declared that her former flame Joe Alwyn was the ‘wrong guy’ during a heartfelt performance in France.
The global pop icon, who will touch down in Edinburgh this weekend for her Eras World Tour at Murrayfield Stadium, left fans reeling with emotion after she put a twist on the ending of her song while performing in Lyon last night.
In a moment that sent the crowd into a frenzy, Taylor strummed her guitar and sang: “Long story short it was the wrong guy.”
She then poignantly concluded the song with, “long story short I survived.”
Social media platforms like X, formerly known as Twitter, were ablaze with chatter about the stirring rendition, with many fans convinced she was alluding to her British ex, Joe, the Mirror reports.

One fan exclaimed: “The way she ended one of her most heartbreaking songs with long story short it was the wrong guy.. long story short i survived.”
Another was simply overwhelmed, commenting: “I can’t deal.”
A third added their voice to the chorus, saying: “The end to that song. Wow.”
And a fourth concurred, stating: “Epic. The emotion behind that song is clear.”
This emotional revelation comes amid reports that Taylor Swift’s latest album, Tortured Poets Department, features songs about her past relationship with Joe Alwyn.
Meanwhile, staff at the Black Dog pub in Vauxhall, London, have seen an influx of Swift’s fans, known as Swifties, eager to visit the establishment mentioned in track 17 of Swift’s chart-topping new album.
Lily Bottomley, 24, from S C Soho, the company behind the Black Dog, has spilled some tea about Taylor Swift’s latest song.
Speaking to the South London Press, she dropped a major hint that Joe Alwyn could be the muse for the tune, revealing: “We know the song is about one of her ex-boyfriends and without giving too much away, I will say we have had a certain blonde regular in a few times.”
Swifties are buzzing with excitement as they’ve been piecing together clues about who the mystery man in her songs might be. The suspects have been narrowed down to either Matty Healy from The 1975 or actor Joe Alwyn.

Alwyn isn’t just an old flame; he’s also been a creative partner, contributing to Swift’s critically acclaimed 2020 albums Folklore and Evermore.
Meanwhile, some fans speculate that the lyrics might nod to her fleeting romance with The 1975’s lead singer, Matty Healy.
Swift’s eleventh album, “Tortured Poets Department,” continues her tradition of exploring past relationships, and fans are convinced it’s about her ex-beau.
After spotting him entering a pub on her phone app, she sings: “I am someone who until recent events you shared your secrets with and your location. You forgot to turn it off. And so I watch as you walk into some bar called The Black Dog.”
Lily Bottomley also commented on how the song has affected their establishment, telling Claudia Lee from the paper: “It all started on Thursday after the leaks. I saw it on Twitter myself and thought it was a coincidence but then it just exploded.”
“We set up a Tik Tok account and within 72 hours we had more than two million views and our Instagram following tripled.”
Taylor Swift will touch down in Edinburgh this week as she brings her Eras World Tour to Murrayfield Stadium for three nights from June 7 to June 9.
