Michael Gerard Tyson (born June 30, 1966) is an American retired professional boxer who had a successful career from 1985 to 2005.
Affectionately called “Iron Mike” and “Kid Dynamite” during his early years in the sport, he gained the reputation of being one of the most formidable athletes on Earth.
Mike Tyson is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished heavyweight boxers in history.
During his reign as the unquestioned world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990, Tyson’s dominance was unmatched.
In an impressive streak, Tyson achieved victory by knockout in his initial 19 professional bouts, with an astounding 12 of them occurring in the first round. A remarkable achievement came when Tyson secured his first championship belt at the young age of 20 years, four months, and 22 days, establishing him as the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history.
He achieved a historic feat as the initial heavyweight boxer to hold the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles concurrently, consolidating them one after another.
The subsequent year marked a significant milestone for Tyson, as he claimed the lineal champion status by swiftly knocking out Michael Spinks within a remarkable 91 seconds of the opening round.
However, in 1990, Tyson faced an unexpected defeat when he was knocked out by the underdog Buster Douglas, a monumental upset that remains etched in boxing history.
